Position: Assistant Research Fellow in Advanced Materials

Contract status: Full-time, fixed-term for 2 years contract.
Working location: Ningbo
Salary & Benefits: RMB92,000– RMB124,000 per annum before all deductions, depending on qualifications and experience
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor degree of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related discipline;
- Confident in the use of workshop/ laboratory activities including natural and synthetic fibre manufacturing and processing, fibre reinforced composite manufacturing and materials testing;
- Competent in the design, construction and commissioning of experimental rigs;
- Capable of carrying out maintenance and calibration tasks;
- Capable of the implementation of international safety standards in laboratories;
- Must be able to use standard measuring equipment;
- Must be able to use power hand tools;
- Familiarity with shop tools such as band saws, disk sanders, drill press, wood lathe. Milling machine etc;
- Thorough knowledge of operation of material testing (thermal, tensile, , and vibration analysis equipment and software;
- Must be able to work with chemical solvents, resins and adhesives;
- Implementing and working to international standards of health and safety;
- Good organisational and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently when required;
- Problem solving skills;
- Good communication skills, including written and spoken English;
- Computer literacy.
Desirable
- Master degree in relevant discipline;
- In depth knowledge and experience using resin transfer moulding system, vacuum infusion and reusable bag molding process;
- Experience in operating materials testing equipment and advanced machine tools, e.g. 5 universal test machine;
- Polymer mechanical testing or polymer manufacturing experience;
- Working experience in other relevant areas.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support for teaching and research in engineering and related subjects;
- Demonstrate laboratory experimental skills to students;
- Assist students and staff to conduct experiments;
- Manufacture small parts and test rigs for teaching and research purposes;
- Provide day-to-day management of the laboratory, including safe laboratory and workshop practice;
- Ensure the disposal of materials, to work in an orderly manner, observing the University’s health and safety policies and the specific rules of the workshop and laboratories safety regulations;
- Assist with the ordering of materials and equipment;
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, tidy and efficient condition;
- Maintain documentation of materials and processes used, as reference material.
